Heath McKnight
Since I work on a Mac laptop featuring an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, I need to take full advantage of that dual-core processing action when it comes to using Final Cut Studio's Compressor 3.x. I didn't realize that without setting up a Qmaster Cluster, I'm not taking full advantage of all processors available to me, even in a networked scenario.

FreeForm AE for Adobe After Effects
Turn any layer into a mesh in 3D space
Kevin McAuliffe
These days, 3D in Adobe's After Effects is a no brainer, and most people don't even give it a second thought. I've been an After Effects user since version 3.5 of the software, and when the 3D feature came along (version 5), it was a huge step forward, except for one problem.
Create and Burn Blu-ray Discs Using Final Cut Pro 6, Adobe Encore CS4 and OWC Mercury Pro BD/DVD/CD Burner
Heath McKnight
One of the biggest complaints for Final Cut Pro (FCP) editors is the inability to create and burn Blu-ray Discs (BDs) with Macs. Windows apps seem to have all the fun with built-in BD creation/burning software (like Sony Vegas Pro and others). This article aims to help you create those BDs using FCP, Adobe Encore CS4 for Mac, and the excellent Other World Computing Mercury Pro BD/DVD/CD Burner.

Broadcasting MPEG-4 (h.264) video through Flash 10
In this How To, you will be taken, step by step, through the process of adding MPEG-4 video to your Flash 10 apps
Matthew David
The new standard for video and audio is fast becoming MPEG-4, technically known as H.264. To acknowledge support for this new standard, Adobe's Flash Player is now supporting MPEG encoded video. MPEG-4 support was introduced with Flash Player 9, third release. It is recommended, however, that you restrict MPEG-4 support to just Flash Player 10 and later.
Going one better: RED editing and what Vegas 9 has under the hood
Mike Jones
There's a substantial history of camera technology being released to the public before the technology of post-production has caught up. HDV springs as an obvious example where the long-GOP structure was fantastically efficient for image acquisition and recording but presented considerable issues for non-linear editing systems traditionally reliant on individual frames and not groups-of-pictures. AVCHD presents the same issue where shooting is easy but timeline performance is less than stellar. And Sony's XDCAMEX is a great balance of quality and efficiency but it's wrapping in an Mp4 format initially gave many NLE's considerable trouble.
