If you're looking for one of the sharpest-looking PCs in town, there's a computer builder in Norcross, Georgia that can put one together for you with exactly the components you want. Because of the Gra-VT 2 Go's (pronounced "gravity to go") tiny new FlexATX motherboard inside, designers can get away with case shapes like the FIC Ice Cube, a plastic and aluminum box that looks unlike any computer you've ever seen. Is 64-bit computing crucial for digital content creators?
HP announced the shipment of a new line of zx6000 Itanium 2 workstations this week, high end systems that boast a 50% performance improvement over earlier Itanium-based products. The new third-generation Itanium 2 chips, which Intel code-named Madison, run at 1.3GHz and 1.5 GHz. They're compatible with a variety of operating systems including UNIX, the new 64-bit version of Windows XP released in April, and any version of Linux. DMN's Charlie White talked with Rachel McClary, HP's worldwide product manager for Itanium products about the new processors and their significance for digital content creators in this exclusive interview.
Smoothing keyed edges
Its been a fun couple of weeks playing with Final Cut Pro 4.0 looking for all of those new features and of course doing actual work with the new upgrade. While we have touched on keying in Final Cut Pro before in our Final Cut Pro Quick Tips, this time we look at a new filter and how it aids in your keying process.
