![]() Adobe challenges Apple with Mac-free NLE The 90-pound weakling of nonlinear editing, Adobe Premiere, has just been entirely re-written, turning it into a muscle-bound bully into whose face competitors would be foolish to kick sand. Emerging from a two-year-long metamorphosis is Premiere Pro, a brand new iteration of one of the granddaddies of digital video editing. The best news is, the age-old editor managed to retain just about everything you might have liked about it, while adding so many new pro-level enhancements that it becomes obvious once you dig deep into it there was one specific target in the minds of those at the reins of its development effort: Apple and its popular video editor, Final Cut Pro. ![]() Not supported on Macs? No Windows 2000? No more A/B editing? The most significant upgrade since 1991? This seems like quite an interesting debut. Nothing like a bit of controversy to stir the pot. Time to make way for Premiere Pro. ![]() Adobe reveals plans for Cool Edit Pro Audio took a big step toward equality in the video editing world yesterday, with Adobe’s announcement of Audition. Formerly known as Cool Edit Pro, the PC-based audio editing and recording program was acquired by Adobe in May when it bought the assets of Syntrillium Software. Audition will be available for $299 beginning in August, with new packaging and 'Edit Original' integration with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Not your father’s Cleaner If you were surprised when discreet released Cleaner 6 some months ago and noticed that there wasn’t a Cleaner 6 for the PC, have no fear. A revamped Cleaner was released for the PC shortly thereafter. This isn’t your father’s Cleaner -- this is cleaner XL. |
