Apple and IBM Brass Tout New Mac G5
Top VPs call upcoming 64-bit box "World's Fastest Personal Computer"

DMN's Charlie White talked with Apple Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Jon Rubinstein, and IBM's Chekib Akrout, Vice President, PowerPC & Networking Technology Development, Microelectronics Division, about the new Mac G5s introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2003) in San Francisco. Here's DMN's exclusive interview.

Apple's Prevaricating Pinocchios of PR
Cupertino fruit company cooks results, twists words, lends new meaning to the word "incredible"

Well, hallelujah! Apple has entered the twenty-first century with the new Power Mac G5, the fastest Mac we've ever seen and a enormous improvement over its predecessor, the G4. Now, Apple will soon be selling computers that are in an entirely different league. It's time to celebrate. But all is not sweetness and light. Unfortunately, Apple's media flacks, those prevaricating Pinocchios of PR led by CEO Steve Jobs, the Joe Isuzu of computerdom, decided to do a little sleight of hand to make the G5 seem even better. Maybe it's time we take a look at one of Apple CEO's favorite words -- "incredible" -- and see what it really means.

Pinnacle Edition 5 Breaks New Ground
Shipping version impressive

If you read Charlie White's "First Look" at Pinnacle Edition 5, published three months ago (March, 2003) here on Digital Media Net, you'll recall that he was impressed with the nonlinear editing software's new real time improvements and interoperability with graphics cards. Edition 5 is now shipping, and White's impression of the product is even better now than it was before.
